People need relationships to grow and develop and recent studies
have shown that the brain is capable of changing well into our elderly years.
This knowledge provides us with an opportunity to make changes throughout our
lifetime. It is important to realize that the brain is influenced by genetics,
environment, and EXPERIENCE.
Counseling can provide different experiences within a safe
context that allow brain changes to take place. Most people don’t realize
that just one conversation can actually reconfigure the way the brain functions.
Lasting changes take place through conversations over time as the client discovers
a new story of his/herself.
Therapy can help you:
- Improve self-esteem and relationship skills
- Find new ways to think about yourself and the issues in your life
- Improve your ability to manage emotional stressors
- Build self confidence and help you plan for the future
- Enhance overall functioning
My Philosophy: I approach counseling from a relational perspective,
paying attention to the dynamics between you and those who may be important
to you. Therapy can give a slightly different perspective to situations, and
can often begin to explore the idea of change within relationships—how
can you and those around you move past a point of disconnection?
“Those forces that keep a person out of connection are
the forces
that keep him or her from growing and thriving in life…”
-Jean Baker Miller, M.D.
